As ye sow, so shall ye reap....

Sow into the Kingdom of God.

Psalm 126:5-6. "Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."

There are two things we can do with wheat kernels: we can eat them and receive the instant gratification of a temporarily filled stomach; or we can sow them into the ground and wait for the harvest. The weeping sower of Psalm 126 is someone who takes whatever keeps him alive and sows it into the Kingdom of God, into the lives of other people. Not the extra's, the scraps, the leftovers, but his daily "bread".

For some it could be giving up their time, their career, their "gainful employment" to enter into ministry. For others it could be giving time to worthy causes as a volunteer. To still others it could be using their talents and skills to facilitate the smooth running of community development projects. To some it could be giving financial support to ministry. Prayer warriors could sow with prayer. Perhaps the ideal is that we strive to sow with more than one type of seed. God promises that there will be a harvest, and in that promise lies the truth that when we sow our daily "bread", that harvest will not only feed us, but many others as well. It will not only give us temporary life and sustenance, but eternal life to many!! That is the harvest of true value!

The most pressing question is: Are we sowing our best wheat into God's Kingdom?

Are you?

A Man

I have no interest in a man
who can lift huge weights or down a beer can;
but a man with the power of the Lord of Hosts,
filled with the Spirit of the Holy Ghost!

(Inspired by a quote of @lamumar posted on Twitter by Steve Murrell: '"Single girls - don't settle for a man who can lift a barbell or a beer can but can't lift a Bible" --@lamumar at Victory-Makati' Thanks guys!)

Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; whose leaf also shall not wither and whatever he does shall prosper.

Foolishness

1 Corinthians 1:18 The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know that it is the very power of God. (NLT)

Headed for destruction... Don't be fooled (pardon the pun)! Headed for destruction is not the same as destined for destruction... You can still turn around... There is hope!

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (NKJV)

Perishing... Don't be fooled (there it is again)! If you are perishing you are not dead yet... You can be healed... There is hope!

The message of the cross... Don't be fooled... Sacrificing your own will to the will of Christ, sacrificing self reliance in exchange for reliance on Christ is the only way to Life!

Sound foolish?

My God

Via my friend Virginia on fb:

"Our God is Jehovah of hosts, who can summon unexpected reinforcements at any moment to aid His people. Believe that He is there between you and your difficulty, and what baffles you will flee before Him, as clouds before the gale." —F.B. Meyer
